Born Abasiodiong Jackson in Uyo, Nigeria to a music teacher father and sports teacher mother, Abz Jaxon was raised around music and artistic creativity, and had early opportunities to express himself through fine arts, playing instruments, singing in an accapella group and jockeying songs. The wealthy music catalogue at home introduced him to hip-hop, high-life, reggae, salsa and a diversity of sounds with which he fell in love.
He first attempted music performance in a high school trio with whom he performed his first shows and recorded his first studio tracks at age fourteen. For a decade after the trio went defunct, Abz tried his hands on almost every aspect of music, from commercial studio production, to disk jockeying, from playing and singing backing vocals in a live band to writing and arranging for already established local artistes.
After a decade of self-discovery, taking a while to understand and perfect his craft, and bagging a first class honors in Electronic Engineering, he has launched out with a sound he is proud to call his own. A fusion that can be accurately described as today’s global sound, or world music at its finest. A blend of soulful singing on soft stimulating rhythms ranging from Afrobeats to reggae and contemporary pop.
He aims to achieve longevity in the industry and leave a mark by performing at festivals such as Glastonbury and Coachella and on TV shows such as SNL and late night with Jimmy Kimmel, where he can connect with a global audience.
