Album Review: Black Child by Mr. Seed, Get Exclusively on Boomplay

Gospel singer Mr. Seed has finally released his long awaited debut album 'Black Child'. This body of work comes slightly over a year after Seed gifted fans an EP called 'The Sound'.

Mr. Seed ropes in Masauti (Kenya), Lil Balil (Somalia), Bella Kombo (Tanzania), John Blaq (Uganda) ,Neddy Musiq (Tanzania) , Kate Actress (Kenya), Vivian (Kenya) and his wife Nimo as collaborators on this project.

Before the release of the album, Seed released 'Ndoa', a song featuring the talented Kate Actress and with this, fans got a taste of what to expect on the album.

On 'Black Child' the album, Mr. Seed tackles themes around Religion and Christianity as a whole as he also talks about Love in a number of songs.

We are introduced to the album with the song called 'Usiniache' and are taken through a great musical ride that ends with track 11, 'Ndoa'.

Usiniache

On this Jam, Seed calls on the Lord to keep watching over him. He acknowledges that he is not perfect and asks the Lord to use him as He so wishes. Seed is accepting the will of God in his life. He sings his heart out with the choir setting on the song adding the sauce to it. This is the perfect way to introduce listeners to your first project.

Hakuna Kama Wewe ft. Teddy B

Mr. Seed joins hands with talented producer Teddy B for this second offering. The song has a groovy vibe with great African rhythms.

On 'Hakuna Kama Wewe', Seed sings in his local dialect (Luo) and promises to speak of the mighty works of the Lord. The singer is out to share the good teachings of the Lord with all nations as he proclaims that there is no one like the Messiah.

Romeo & Juliet

This is the first Love song on the album. Just like on the second track, Seed sings in Luo. 'Romeo & Juliet' is an ode to his wife Nimo with Seed comparing their relationship to that of Romeo and Juliet.

He praises his wife for all her outstanding qualities. The singer sees a life full of happiness with his better half. This is a perfect love song!

Ghetto Love ft. Vivian Kenya.

The love series continues with this song. The track has a feel good vibe with the 'Gidi Vibes' produced beat set to get you off your feet.

Seed and Vivian promise to be there for each other. They talk of fighting for one another and also promise to involve God in their relationship.

God's love in our hearts is truly the foundation of the Christian life.

Blessed ft. John Blaq (Uganda)

This is a thanksgiving type of song with Seed and John Blaq thanking God for all his Blessings. It has an Afro dancehall feel with Blaq also serving us some Luganda vibe with his infectious flow.

The two artistes really deliver something great for the ears through this laid back jam.

Only One ft. Masauti

Mr. Seed ropes in Kenyan boy Masauti for this upbeat love song called 'Only One'. Just as the name goes, the two artistes assure their better halves that everything in their lives revolve around them.

They promise to work hard to make them happy and ask them to never leave even if the going gets tough.

Masauti's ability to create super great love ballads has never been in doubt and together with Mr. Seed, they serve a song with all the qualities of being a hit.

Hubadiliki ft. Bella Kombo (Tanzania)

'Hubadiliki' means 'You don't change' and on this song, Seed and Kombo emphasize on the teachings of Hebrews 13:8 that say "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever".

They sing of Christ's unchanging nature.

The song also has a great African groove and is well laid back for anyone who just wants to enjoy that smooth flowing gospel music.

Furahi ft. Nimo

It's a family affair on this jam as Mr. Seed joins hands with his wife Nimo for another Love song.

The two gush over each other as they express happiness and Joy at having each other.

It's a perfect song for all the couples out there.

Mama ft. Lil Baliil (Somalia)

This is one of the collaborations on the album that got many people talking just because of Lil Baliil's country of origin.

The Somali native however proves that they can also make great music as he joins hands with Mr. Seed to celebrate all the mothers out there. He sings in his native language and also drops some lines in English.

The two thank all mothers for always pushing their kids to do the most, helping them believe in themselves and achieve their dreams.

African Woman ft. Nedy (Tanzania)

This is the second last song on the album and here, Mr. Seed and Nedy celebrate all the beautiful African women. They thank God for creating them and promise to treat and love them right.

Ndoa ft. Kate Actress

The music marathon ends with 'Ndoa' featuring the talented Kate Actress. The song is a manifestation of how true love should be displayed. This is a wedding song that should definitely not miss in your playlist.

The Verdict

A run through Mr. Seed's album shows that he really put in work to deliver something beautiful to his fans.

From production to the song arrangement to delivery, Seed and his team worked so hard on this project.

The singer clearly chose the right seeds and did everything right in his garden and is now enjoying that bumper harvest.

He has truly grown as an artiste over the years.
